FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by the date indicated on your invitation so we can finalize headcounts and logistics. The sooner the better — especially for the hotel room block.

Which events should I RSVP for?

You'll RSVP for the Jago, Anand Karaj, and Reception separately — each event has its own headcount. Thursday (Thanksgiving) is a free day with no formal event, so no RSVP needed for that day.

Are children invited?

Yes — children are warmly welcomed at all events. The Anand Karaj is a reverent ceremony, so please keep little ones close and step out to the lobby if needed. The Jago and Reception are lively celebrations where kids will have a great time.

What is an Anand Karaj?

The Anand Karaj ("blissful union") is the Sikh wedding ceremony. It takes place in the Darbar Hall of the Gurudwara in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scripture. The ceremony features Kirtan (devotional music) and four Lavan (ceremonial rounds) that symbolize the couple's spiritual journey together. It is a beautiful and deeply meaningful ceremony, and we are honored to share it with you. Check out the Events page for the full day-of schedule.

Do I need to cover my head at the Gurudwara?

Yes — head coverings are required for all guests inside the Gurudwara, regardless of gender or background. Scarves and dupattas will be available at the entrance if you don't have one. Shoes are also removed before entering — clean socks are your best friend.

Is the ceremony meal vegetarian?

Yes. Langar — the community meal served after the Anand Karaj — is always vegetarian. It is a Sikh tradition of equality and generosity, and the food is delicious. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions or allergies in your RSVP.

What should I wear?

Each event has its own dress code — see our Attire page for a full breakdown. Short version: bright and festive for the Jago, modest traditional for the Anand Karaj, and glamorous for the Reception.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

Photography is welcome from the sides and back of the Darbar Hall during the ceremony. Please silence your phone, avoid moving around during Ardas (prayers), and be mindful of the sanctity of the space. Our photographer will be capturing everything — so feel free to simply be present.

Which airport should I fly into?

John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the closest — about 15 minutes from the hotel. LAX has the most routes and international connections but is about 45 minutes away (traffic-dependent). See the Travel page for details on all nearby airports.

Is there a shuttle to the Gurudwara?

Yes — a shuttle will depart from the JW Marriott at 8:00 AM on Friday, November 27 for the Anand Karaj. Return shuttles will run after Langar (around 2:00 PM). If you're driving yourself, parking is available at the Gurudwara.

What will the weather be like?

November in Orange County is mild and sunny — expect 65–75°F (18–24°C) during the day, with cooler evenings around 55°F. No need for heavy coats, but bring a light jacket for outdoor evening events.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

Please note them when submitting your RSVP. We'll share all dietary information with our catering team to accommodate everyone as best we can.

Can I bring a plus one?

We have carefully considered our guest list. Your invitation will indicate whether you have been allocated a plus one.

What about gifts?

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for.

If you'd like to give a gift, we'll share registry details closer to the date. Cash and Venmo are always appreciated for the newlywed fund.

Did you vibe code this website?

Yes! This site was built almost entirely with Claude Code. It's a Ruby on Rails app, fully database-driven with an admin panel for managing invitations and RSVPs. It's open source — check it out on GitHub.
